AAC was recognized as the 2015 Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training (LMC-MST) Supplier of the Year for C4/Undersea Systems (C4USS). The award was formally presented at the LMC Supplier Summit on March 10th at the PGA Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
AN/SQQ-89(V) Production
Oct 1, 2015, 5:09 PM
The Lockheed Martin/AAC Team was awarded a $73,525,370 fixed-price, incentive-firm modification to previously awarded contract N00024-13-C-5225 for the Navy’s fiscal 2015 AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 surface ship undersea warfare (USW) system and shore site development systems. The AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 is a surface ship USW combat system with the capabilities to search, detect, classify, localize and track undersea contacts, and to engage and evade submarines, mine-like small objects and torpedo threats. The contract is for production of the Technical Insertion 14 baseline of the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 USW systems for fiscal 2015.
Towed Synthetic Aperture Sonar (T-SAS) At-Sea Demonstration
Jul 1, 2015, 5:16 PM
In conjunction with Thales Underwater Systems and with the support of Lockheed Martin, AAC conducted a second at-sea demonstration of its proven T-SAS minehunting system on the U.S. Navy’s Mine Warfare target test range near Riviera Beach, FL. Government attendees included members of PMS403 (Mine Hunting Systems), PMS406 (Naval Unmanned Systems), and Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City. The T-SAS system successfully demonstrated in-stride processing and classification of SAS data with extremely high fidelity and tactical precision and without the need to return to port for post-mission analysis (PMA) of the target data. Moreover, the system correctly and accurately located all of the target mines and encountered no system failures or operational down-time over the course of the two-day event.
LCS ASW RTI Contract Award
Jul 1, 2015, 5:15 PM
AAC was competitively selected for award of a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) ASW Rapid Technology Insertion (RTI) contract, which includes immediate exercise of a Phase I Transition Study and additional options for Phase II, Phase III, and Phase IV follow-on development and fielding.

Advanced Acoustic Concepts LLC,* Hauppauge, New York, is being awarded a $7,384,229 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-12-C-6311 for Mission Package Computing Environment (MPCE) hardware and technical refresh, Common Mission Package Trainer (CMPT) hardware and technical refresh, and engineering services in support of Program Executive Office Littoral Combat Ships. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.
LCS VDS Sea Testing
Nov 1, 2014, 5:19 PM
Last month, in concert with our Navy customer, we successfully concluded at-sea testing of our Littoral Combat Ship Variable Depth Sonar (LCS VDS) Advanced Development Model (ADM) system aboard the USS FREEDOM (LCS 1). This “Gray Ship” test was a follow-on to a successful “White Ship” test conducted in 2012. The LCS VDS is a critical component of the Navy’s Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Mission Module, which is planned for deployment aboard both variants of the LCS Class ships.
UISS
Oct 1, 2014, 5:20 PM
Our team of AAI Corp. and AAC has been competitively selected by the Naval Sea Systems Command for award of a contract for engineering development of the Unmanned Influence Sweep System (UISS). The UISS, which represents “Flight I” of the Navy’s multi-Flight approach to unmanned Mine Warfare for the Littoral Combat Ship, will target acoustic and magnetic mine types and will satisfy the U.S. Navy’s need for a rapid, wide-area coverage mine clearance capability.
SQQ-89
Aug 1, 2014, 5:21 PM
Advanced Acoustic Concepts (AAC) and our strategic partner, Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training, Manassas, Virginia, were awarded an Undefinitized Contract Action as a modification to a previously awarded contract (N00024-13-C-5225) for the Navy’s fiscal 2014 AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 Surface Ship Undersea Warfare (USW) System and shore site development systems. The AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 is a USW combat system with the capabilities to search, detect, classify, localize and track undersea contacts, and to engage and evade submarines, mine-like small objects and torpedo threats. The contract is for development and production of the Technical Insertion 14 baseline of the AN/SQQ-89A(V)15 USW systems. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy and the government of Japan under the Foreign Military Sales Program. AAC will produce major units associated with 8 tactical and 6 shore systems.
MK48 Warhead Electronic System
Jun 5, 2014, 5:22 PM
Our team of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) and AAC has been competitively selected for award of a contract to produce 62 Exercise MK48 Torpedoes for Canada and the Netherlands. AAC will produce the Warhead Electronics System (WES), which is a key assembly in the torpedo.
Fleet Experimentation (FLEX) Unmanned Systems (UxS) Campaign
Oct 1, 2013, 5:23 PM
AAC successfully demonstrated advanced mine hunting capabilities with the US Navy during the 2013 FLEX UxS Campaign, towing the unmanned high resolution synthetic aperture sonar (T-SAS) and detecting all exercise mines with increased area clearance rates. The FLEX demonstration offered the opportunity to operate in a high-clutter tactical mine warfare environment. T-SAS, as a mature and highly reliable system, was operational throughout the entire demonstration with over 60 hours of in-water operations.
